We're glad to announce that we've added a new language to our already wide list.
Although it is not currently used in our everyday live, we believe it is a great idea to add this language for educational purposes. We are talking about Middle English, a language that was spoken in England from the Normand conquest (1066) to the end of the 15th century.
This language developed out of Old English, which will be available next week, and saw many changes in its pronunciation and orthography, among other features. Although there was much variability in writing customs, by the end of the 15th century, a standard had become stablished (Chancery Standard), which is the basis for Modern English spelling, even though pronunciation underwent certain changes since then.
With regard to literature, Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, remains as the most important work of that period.
